Why Dadès & Todra Gorges
East of Ouarzazate the N10 kasbah road climbs through Skoura and the Valley of Roses into two of Morocco's most spectacular canyons before delivering you to the Sahara. The Todra Gorge narrows to a 300-metre-high slot barely 10 metres wide, beloved of rock climbers; the Dadès Gorge twists through rose-coloured rock past the surreal 'monkey-finger' formations and its famous hairpin switchbacks. Between them lie palm oases, rammed-earth kasbahs and the damask roses of Kelaat M'Gouna. This stretch is the heart of any drive from Ouarzazate toward Merzouga — and the reason the route is worth at least two nights.

Yes — they're among the most dramatic landscapes in Morocco and a natural, scenic break on the long desert route. The Todra's sheer walls and the Dadès switchbacks are highlights of any southern road trip.
Not in a day — they sit east of Ouarzazate, well past the Tichka pass. The standard approach is to overnight in Ouarzazate, then take the kasbah road through Skoura into the Dadès and Todra as part of a 3-day-or-longer Sahara loop.
