10 private trips

Aït Ben Haddou — UNESCO Ksar at Dawn
Aït Ben Haddou · Ounila Valley
A private full day at Aït Ben Haddou — the earthen ksar of stacked towers that has stood on the old caravan road for centuries. We arrive early, climb to the agadir at the top, and read the mud-brick architecture with a local guide before the crowds.

Atlas Film Studios & CLA — Ouallywood Half Day
Ouarzazate · Atlas & CLA Studios
Ouarzazate is nicknamed 'Ouallywood' for good reason. A private half day inside the standing sets of Atlas Studios — Egyptian temples, Tibetan monasteries, Roman streets — with a guide who knows which scene was filmed where.

Taourirt Kasbah & Fint Oasis 4x4
Ouarzazate · Fint Valley
Morning in the Taourirt Kasbah — once the seat of the Glaoui in Ouarzazate — then a 4x4 run out to the palm-shaded oasis of Fint, hidden in a volcanic-rock valley where few coaches reach.

Tizi n'Tichka — The Kasbah Road
Marrakech → Ouarzazate
A one-way crossing of the High Atlas on the Tizi n'Tichka — Morocco's highest major road pass at 2,260m — with the Telouet kasbah, argan stops and Aït Ben Haddou en route to Ouarzazate.

Skoura Palmeraie & Kasbah Amridil
Skoura · Draa-Tafilalet
A full day in the Skoura palmeraie east of Ouarzazate — a dense oasis of date palms threaded with old kasbahs — centred on Kasbah Amridil, one of Morocco's best-preserved earthen kasbahs and a former banknote subject.

Dadès Valley & Gorges
Dadès Valley · Boumalne
East along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dadès Valley — rust-red rock, the 'monkey-fingers' formations and the dramatic hairpin switchbacks that climb into the Dadès Gorges.

Todra Gorge from Ouarzazate
Todra Gorge · Tinghir
A full day east to Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, where sheer rock walls rise some 300 metres above a narrow floor and a clear river — the most dramatic canyon in the Atlas, with a palmeraie at its mouth.

Valley of Roses — Kelaat M'Gouna
Kelaat M'Gouna · M'Goun Valley
A day in the Valley of Roses around Kelaat M'Gouna, where hedges of pink Damask roses line the fields and small distilleries turn the petals into rose water — best from late April to early June, around the rose harvest and festival.

Ouarzazate to Zagora — Sahara Gateway
Draa Valley · Zagora · Tinfou/M'Hamid
South from Ouarzazate down the Draa Valley — Morocco's longest river and its greatest palm oasis — to Zagora and the desert beyond, with a camel sunset and a night under canvas in the dunes before looping back through the kasbahs.

Ounila Valley & Telouet — The Old Kasbah Road
Aït Ben Haddou · Ounila · Telouet
The scenic back road that the caravans used before the Tizi n'Tichka was paved: up the Ounila Valley from Aït Ben Haddou through earthen villages to the Glaoui palace-kasbah of Telouet, and back — a loop few day-trippers take.
Good to know
Frequently asked questions about Ouarzazate & Aït Ben Haddou tours.
Where is Ouarzazate and what is it known for?
Ouarzazate sits at the southern foot of the High Atlas in Morocco's Drâa-Tafilalet region, where the road from Marrakech meets the desert valleys. It is best known as a film-making hub — home to the Atlas and CLA studios — and as the gateway town for trips to Aït Ben Haddou, the Drâa and Dadès valleys, and the Sahara further south.
What is Aït Ben Haddou and why visit it?
Aït Ben Haddou is a fortified earthen village (ksar) of stacked mud-brick kasbahs on the old caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and is one of the most complete examples of southern Moroccan earthen architecture, which is why most Ouarzazate itineraries include it.
How do I get to Ouarzazate from Marrakech?
The usual overland route from Marrakech crosses the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, a paved mountain road that climbs to roughly 2,260 metres. The drive typically takes around four hours one way, depending on stops and conditions, and many of our tours run it as a scenic transfer past the Telouet kasbah and Aït Ben Haddou.
What can I see beyond the film studios and Aït Ben Haddou?
Ouarzazate is a base for the surrounding oases and gorges: the Skoura palm grove and its kasbahs, the Dadès and Todra gorges, the Valley of Roses around Kelaat M'Gouna, the Fint oasis, and the Drâa Valley running south toward Zagora and the dunes. Our catalogue covers these as day trips and longer desert routes.
When is the best time to visit Ouarzazate?
Spring (roughly March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable, with mild days for exploring the kasbahs and valleys. Summers are very hot in this pre-Saharan region, while winters are cooler with cold nights, so packing layers is wise outside the peak warm months.
